Fine Art Photography in a New Light

Artist Adam Rose uses light to meticulously paint three-dimensional sculptures in swaths of color in order to capture stunning visual displays of geometric balance that examine color relationships and qualities of light

  • Sketching the Form

A simple line drawing is created to explore shape and balance of the final image

  • Constructing a Sculpture

A temporary sculpture of paper and foam core is constructed

  • Meticulous Lighting

The paper sculpture is lit with extreme precision and attention to detail to avoid shadows and light spill contaminating each color

  • Capturing the Sculpture

The camera is placed level with the center of the sculpture so that edges and depth disappear

Contemporary Art Inspired by the Past

The simple form is derived from Rothko's color field paintings while the vibrancy of color is a reaction to the artist visceral response to Klein's Monochrome Blue. By melding these two ideas together with symmetry and geometric structure, a calming energy and satisfaction washes over the viewer.

The form also ensures that both color fields are treated equally regardless of chroma, value, or hue and that the dividing color is able to strengthen or unify those color fields.

Limited Edition Metal Prints
